Mac Jones will miss the mark and won't check most of the physical boxes, like arm strength/talent, size, and athleticism. If given a quality offensive line, an offensive scheme, and a reliable supporting cast, Jones can make things work and win football games. He displayed that last season in relief for injured Brock Purdy in San Fran. Jones started eight games and played well enough to keep the 49ers' playoff hopes afloat. His processing quickness and accuracy mesh well with Kyle Shanahan's offensive scheme, which highlights the mental superpowers of his quarterbacks. Jones will not raise the ceiling of the team's offense, but he can lift the floor a bit higher.

Romeo Doubs has been a model of consistency during his tenure with the Green Bay Packers. He has more than 600 yards receiving in each of the last three seasons. Doubs has never crossed the 1,000-yard mark in a single season, but he is more than capable of doing so if given the targets. He is an athletic receiver with good size to play on the outside and in the slot. Doubs is known for his speed, which stresses defenses vertically and allows him to win on every other route. He is a solid receiver who, if paired with a true WR1, can have a larger impact on offense.

Josh Downs is a quick-moving slot receiver. His skill set is underappreciated at times because he isn't deployed to generate vertical explosive plays; instead, he's the underneath and chain-moving receiver. Downs' usage declined last season with the emergence of tight end Tyler Warren. Downs is a security blanket receiver with a capped physical ceiling.

Jayden Reed missed significant time with a broken clavicle and a Jones fracture in his left foot, which he had surgery on after the Packers' Week 2 win against the Washington Commanders. When healthy, Reed brings a versatile and dynamic run-after-catch weapon. He is used in pre-snap motions and lining up in the backfield for easy access to space. Reed is an easy receiver to get the ball to and helps create matchups for Jordan Love to exploit. Injuries stole the majority of his 2025 season, but when healthy, he's a consistent 700-plus-yard receiver and playmaker.

The injuries have piled up for TJ Hockenson throughout his career and taken some of his natural fluidity, but the offensive change last season hurt his production the most. His average depth of target dropped from nine yards in 2024 to the lowest of his career at 5.2 yards, and his average air yards per target was even lower at 4.8. Hockenson knows how to get open, is a physical route-runner who often creates contact to free up space, and has legit ball skills to catch the football wherever it is around him. He doesn't seem as fluid after the catch; he's more of a decent blocker at this point in his career, and he'll be coming off a shoulder injury for next season. Another year older, but with a possible quarterback upgrade and the hope of full health, there could be a return to form for Hockenson.

DK Metcalf is a part of an NFL passing offense that averages under 200 yards per game. He is one of the most physically imposing receivers in the league. He is an established big-body pass catcher with explosiveness. Metcalf's productivity has tapered off over the last two seasons. Regardless, he poses a dangerous threat to defenses. His speed, acceleration, and strength put defenders in conflict after the catch. He can either run past defenders or run through them for extra yards. Metcalf is still capable of taking over games with above-average quarterback play. He remains a good and quality starting receiver and playmaker.
